Support for Technology Development
Technology development projects need to be considered differently to conventional projects such as designing and building production facilities in that, at the start, the outcomes are unknown. One of the main purposes of technology development is therefore to reduce technical risks.
Historically, the oil & gas industry has typically taken between 10 and 15 years to move from a bright idea to a commercially-available product. We believe that proper planning and execution at the outset can both reduce this cycle time and also improve the chances of success.
All technology development projects require a significant amount of time and investment. It is therefore important to establish that, before commencing any project, there is both supply and demand and that the timelines for each can be aligned. New and emerging technologies are the supply, whilst potential and existing applications are the demand.
We are able to provide support throughout the technology development process. Our services include:
- Identifying, assessing and selecting possible opportunities;
- Defining and executing programmes and individual projects;
- Implementing the results.
We have published over 30 technical papers and edited five books for both industry publications and international events. We are regularly invited to present and also to give keynote addresses at these events.
We act as technical advisors to both BHR Group and the UK Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and also lecture at leading universities.
